Dig Lewis, Paul Bolotin and Rick King, are no
strangers when it comes to creating dynamic scores
that always enhance the experience of the film
project that they work on. This talented trio can
come to an understanding of the characters in a film
and create original music that gives a film wings to
fly. SyncMasters is well known in the
television industry for scoring episodes of THE
OPRAH WINFREY SHOW and for National
Geographic programming. The company has also
composed music for national commercials and songs
such as Pepsi-Cola, Levi’s, song-“I Got
Something’ For You” for ALF: THE MOVIE AND “After
the Rain Falls” for EMPEROR OF THE BRONX. A favorite
Score of the composing team is a score for DIVA DOG:
PITBULL ON WHEELS. This score was heard at the Woods
Hole Film Festival in Cape Cod, produced and
directed by Chris Cory.

This was a true story of Coral, a paralyzed pit bull with a
great sensitivity towards humans. The story featured Debra Wilson, Linda
Blair and Kellie McCarty, among others. What makes these composers stand
out is that they are able to collaborate and come up with amazing scores
each and every time.
SyncMasters is no stranger for taking time out of
their busy schedules to give back to college communities. The team was
in Nashville, Tennessee for the INTERNATIONAL BLACK FILM FESTIVAL OF
NASHVILLE, conducting a workshop called “Scoring for Film & Mastering
Voiceover.” The team also conducted a special training workshop on
film scoring for Cerritos College students. Officials say, students were
enthralled by the amount of knowledge gained from the workshop.

The team has
plans also to provide music for The Documentary
Channel. Officials say, this would be the nation’s
first 24/7 all-documentary network.
SyncMasters,
as you can see provides music for all. Just think
one of the composers grew up not owning an
instrument but could play every instrument in an
orchestra, that team member is Dig Lewis. Remarkable
talent that did not let any obstacle get in his way.
No wonder this team is unique and each person has
creative juices to bring to the table.
Center Stage: So how did you guys come
together as a team to create SyncMasters?
Paul: Well, I had the equipment and
Dig could play the instruments. We blended our
talents and everything fell into place. [laughter]
Center Stage: When you think about an
instrument that is dark what comes to mind?
Paul: For me one of the darkest
instruments can be STRINGS.
Dig: It’s hard to
say because it depends on the music. A Chello or a
saxophone comes to mind. The Saxophone is one of the
sexiest instruments but it to can be the darkest. |

Center
Stage:
Who were
some of your
mentors?
Dig:
I had great
mentors from
Motown. I’ve
had some
wonderful
experiences. |

Center Stage:
Paul what project
stands out in your
mind?
Paul:
When I think of a
great project. I
think about the
story called
“PITTBULL ON
WHEELS.” The story
was great and heart
warming. We also
compose scores for
documentaries and
film… I’ve had great
experiences and will
continue.
Center Stage:
What’s your spin on
music in say London
or Paris?
Dig:
History has a lot to
do with the
perspective of
music. In other
places for example a
6 year old girl
walked up to me and
asked if I ever
heard of John Cole
Train and another
instance when a 80
year old woman asked
me about Missy
Elliot or Cameo
Center Stage:
So, I guess you
would say they see
art and talent
first.
Dig: Yes,
that’s right!
