Interview with Kimberly Smith
by: Sharon "Ladee Storem" Acres

I’m delighted to interview such a wonderful person. Author/Community Activist/ Entrepreneur Mrs. Kimberly Smith!

Ladee Storem:  Your book is titled God The Angel and the Golden Butterfly.   Give us a brief description of the title.
Kimberly Smith:
First, I would like to thank you Ladee Storem and Congratulate on Bible Talk and Gospel 411.  My book tells the story of my life, which most people would consider a spoiled sheltered life. That was the outside appearance. On the flip side were issues of acceptance, abuse, alcoholism, financial challenges, divorce and death, just to name a few of many challenges. It is a modern day riches to rages, happiness to sadness and the hell and back journey that show and proves that faith is not a test for the mediocre of heart. Most importantly it shows that regardless of what happened my relationship with Christ was formed, and has formed me to be the person He wants me to be.

Ladee Storem:  In your book it reads about the journey of a woman that has learned to live. What were your downfalls, and how did you overcome the trials?
Kimberly Smith:
Now that I have better understanding in hindsight; The only true downfall was my lack of faith. My earlier understanding was that my rescuer was my earthly father. He was always there but when he passed, I found out that I truly had another father; my first father in heaven who makes the impossible; possible. The insurmountable; surmountable and makes the most inane situations full of His glory.
Ladee Storem:
Growing up being a black child with blonde hair and green eyes was tormenting for you. Did you find yourself asking God why me? Why do I have to be so different?

Kimberly Smith: Funny you should ask that question, now as I think back I can remember always wanting to be like everyone else, but it was God's plan for me to be unlike everyone else in so many other ways besides my unique appearance. I thought my appearance was my greatest curse and now my appearance has proven to be one of my greatest blessings.
Ladee Storem:
“Realizing That I’m Different” is the title of chapter 2. There’s a part that reads how you were in the third or fourth grade and the teacher tore you up with a ruler. Causing you to bleed from the rulers wire just because a little girl asked you for a pencil. Please explain.
Kimberly Smith:
Our class was about to take a test and a little girl asked to borrow a pencil. The teacher thought that we were talking, so the teacher took it upon herself to whip me with one of those rulers that had a sharp wire edge on it which cut my skin when the teacher hit me with it.

Ladee Storem: Tell us about your parents, I understand your father was your biggest inspiration.

Kimberly Smith:
I was the product of a push and pull marriage where my alcoholic mother loathed me, and my loving dad cherished me as a gift from God. My dad raised me to think regardless of what people say or feel about you, all things are possible through Christ which strengthens you.
Ladee Storem:
Chapter 21.“With Faith Comes Blessings” Even though you had many turnarounds in life at this point. You finally learn how to step out on Faith, was that a challenge for you?
Kimberly Smith:
Stepping out on faith was very difficult for me because I was so accustomed to doing everything, or so I believed I made everything happen for myself. I found out what true faith was after losing almost everything I had. Starting with the loss of my beloved dad, to begging for food and money from my friends and some times even strangers. I found myself flat on my face with no one to turn to except The Lord.
Ladee Storem:
Chapter 32. “Final Destination A New Beginning” In this chapter you have a scripture from Philippians 4:11-13 realizing in life that nothings guaranteed. What is your output on life today compared to growing up?
Kimberly Smith:
The most amazing part for me now is knowing that nothing happens by my own ability as I once believed, but the blessings that have been given to me are contingent upon my faith, that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. As far as life is concerned, now, I take nothing for granted and I now know that all I have gone through is for the help and betterment of all God's people. I know that what is done in the dark will always come to the light. I live my life in the light leaving the dark behind and I know that my blessings come from The Truth, The Way, and The Life. Jesus Christ!!
