Because we all know without the
Dj there wouldn't be hip hop.
That's why the Dj is the focus
so to speak. I have a few guest
appearances from Pettidee, Antonious, MiMi
Magdalene, Big D and A1. As I
created this album I really
reached down deep into
everything that I love and with
me being a DJ, I love all types
of music. With that being said I
wanted to create a CD that would
be all things to all men.
You have some dirty south on
there, R&B, rock, club dance
bangers and of coarse cutting
and scratching. I have been
doing this from the age of eight
years old so I have love for
this that is indescribable. I
came up with The Foundation
because the Dj never gets any
props. It is always the MC or
the singer or whoever. But
people have to understand, how
do they think they get there
song played on the radio? a Dj
plays it. So I wanted to
celebrate the DJ on this album
and let people know that we are
not just some guy who plays a
record. This is ministry for me
1st and foremost. As you listen
to the record, I hope the
listener will soon see that The
Foundation is JESUS CHRIST. NOT
THE DJ. The Dj is just a tool to
reach people and a symbol of Hip
Hop.
Ladee Storem: Your CD is based on a little R&B/ Hip Hop
with Cutting and Scratching. Why did you combine a little old school Hip Hop to
Holy Hip Hop?
Dj Skillspinz:
I love old school hip hop. That's when it was fun with the Fat Boys, Run-DMC
and Skinny Boys, etc. Some people haven't even heard of the Skinny Boys or the
Fat Boys...but I love it. I don't try to do old school, it's just in me. The
bible says what's in you will come out. So you hear that old school feel with a
new twist coming out of me. That's my roots.
Ladee Storem: There are a great number of Holy Hip Hop rappers not getting
recognized. Do you think Holy Hip Hop will receive the same love as the Hip Hop
rappers?
Dj Skillspinz:
Just like with Hip Hop, it took time to
grow. It didn't happen over night. The same thing with Holy Hip Hop, which is
growing. So I believe that Holy Hip Hop "rappers" will get there as well. It
will just take time along with patience. See there you go, leaving out the Dj.
(ha ha ha)
Ladee Storem:
I love your CD it has a different vibe and
flavor. I’m feeling #3 and #9 can you tell the readers the concept on “Hands
Up/If you’re A Believer” and “Stomp”
Dj Skillspinz:
Glad that you love the CD, thanks.
The concept for Hands Up is simple. I wanted to do a song that would encourage
myself. I was going thru some things in my life that I couldn't handle. I was
riding in my car and I just started saying, "I'm blessed coming in and blessed
going out I don't care what you say devil shut yo mouth." Along with other
powerful passages, I thought I would make a song out of it. The same thing with
"Stomp." The devil has been trying to take me under every since I got saved. So
I had to remind him that he is under my feet and that I have victory over him.
Because if you don't remind Satan where he is, he will be all up in your life,
in your face running all over you. |

Ladee Storem: I know all about Columbus Georgia… that’s one of my favorite
places to be. Should we look for Columbus Georgia to be on the map with Holy Hip
Hop?
Dj Skillspinz:
Of Course…Columbus Georgia is already on the map because I am putting it
down... for the Lord. Just getting my hustle on and trying to work this record
while God does the impossible.
Ladee Storem:
That’s next for Dj Skillspinz? Where can the
readers get that album?
Dj Skillspinz:
Going Platinum. Being a Platinum selling artist. I am trying to do things
that nobody hasn't done before. Life is about taking chances. Us Christians call
it stepping out in faith… like I have been blessed to be the 1st Christian Dj to
release a record. So I am following the Lord and where HE takes me as well.
Please keep me in your prayers and keep it real.
Ladee Storem: Thank you for your time and keep the tables
spinning for Christ…Alright and we out!
It’s your Girl doing it real BIG once again! Hollar!!!
