"
Unique Life Empowerment"
The Young Adult's Guide to Cherishing EVERY moment

“Just Ta Get By...”
By Deveata Williams

Most young adults in today’s world seem to be living by a “just ta get by” mentality. They will attempt to do the very least they have to do and expect the maximum benefit. Whether it is academics, health or personal responsibility. Young adults are “cutting themselves the short end of the stick,” by not recognizing and putting their full potential to use. Sure, it’s a lot easier and will save you time if you cut corners and do the very minimum of what’s required. What does that say about your quality of work? What does that say about your inner character? In the critical stages of establishing yourself in a world of competition, influential people ARE watching and young adults that live in pursuit of the utmost quality are the ones that see the open doors of vast opportunity.

For example, if you were a young event promoter putting on your very first event you could go either of two ways. (1) You could put everything together at the last minute and cross your fingers that things will go okay. Rent space in the cheapest venue and cram everyone in only to hear a budget sound system and sip on watered down drinks. Then, because you are running the show all by yourself, forget or not have time to thank the people involved for the event and leave people with negative feedback in the back of their minds. OR (2) You could actually sit down and plan an event that people will remember positively. Save up the money that is required to buy quality equipment and to rent a venue space large enough for your attendees. Enlist the help of others instead of insisting on taking all the credit for yourself. I assure you, the latter scenario will draw future opportunity and open more doors towards growth in a positive direction. Yes, it took more time and effort, but the future rewards are definitely worth it!

As ambitious young adults in today’s society, let’s strive to be a step above ourselves when it comes to the affairs of our lives. If you choose to live “just ta get by”, future opportunity for growth and prosperity will be sure to just PASS you by.
